Handle styles
- Die-cut integrated handles: the handle is cut and folded from the same board as the box — no add-ons, fully recyclable, and self-locking when the box is closed.
- Rope and ribbon handles: a satin ribbon, cotton rope, or twisted-paper handle threaded through grommeted eyelets — the premium retail carrier look.
- Pastry-box handles: a top-lift handle that keeps a cake, pie, or pastry level as it is carried.

Sizing to what the box has to carry
Handle spec follows load. A pastry box carries a couple of pounds and a die-cut integrated handle is plenty; a wine two-pack carries eight to ten pounds and needs a reinforced rope handle with grommets and a heavier board. Materials, print, and finish options
Handle boxes have to hold together at the handle, which is where the construction lives or dies. For die-cut integrated handles, we spec 18pt to 24pt SBS or heavy kraft so the handle does not tear under load. For rope or ribbon handles, we reinforce the eyelets with a paperboard washer or metal grommet and choose a stock heavy enough to carry the intended weight — a pastry-box handle spec is very different from a wine or bottle carrier.
